The preparations for the upcoming Independence Day festivities at Nembudziya Growth Point in Gokwe North are advancing well, with the area set to welcome officials and visitors from all of the country’s ten provinces.

The Gokwe-Nembudzinya legislator, Cde Flora Buka, mentioned that there are "wide grins amongst young people" who have secured employment through the different preliminary tasks related to the significant national celebration.

Buka Cde confirmed the district’s preparedness, crediting consistent advancement to thorough planning and collaborative endeavors by municipal officials.

She additionally stressed that all necessary infrastructure and facilities are progressing according to plan and will be completed well before the scheduled time, ensuring a smooth and memorable celebration.

President Mnangagwa will helm the national festivities with the slogan "Zim@45: Decentralize and Develop Jointly Aiming for Vision 2030."

The Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, has stated that the province anticipates welcoming as many as 100,000 individuals from each of Zimbabwe’s ten provinces.

The primary festivities will be introduced by a children's event at Nyamuroro Primary School on April 17th at the Mutora Business Centre.

During an interview, Cde Buka stated that the preparations for the significant event were progressing well, with all crucial activities anticipated to be completed far ahead of the scheduled celebrations.

The preparations for the major event are going smoothly, with all crucial duties anticipated to finish much before the planned festivities. We are certain that the location will be prepared to accommodate the numerous guests predicted, ensuring that the celebration will leave a lasting impression on Gokwe North.

Allow me to convey how truly honored I am to have been chosen as the host for these significant 45th Independence Celebrations. My deepest appreciation goes to His Excellency, President Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, for bringing Gokwe Nembudziya into prominence with this decision.

“I lack the adequate vocabulary to express my gratitude, yet allow me to convey that an historic moment approaches. The citizens of Nembudziya are filled with excitement as they eagerly anticipate the 18th of April to welcome His Excellency, extend their thanks for his contributions towards progress, and join him in celebrating independence. Under his leadership, the inhabitants of Gokwe Nembudziya wear broad smiles,” stated Cde Buka.

She mentioned that dispersing the Independence Celebrations across different regions has led to significant development initiatives in the area. She conveyed her contentment with these advancements in Gokwe, noting that numerous infrastructural endeavors have provided job opportunities for more than 600 young individuals from both her constituency and the broader district.

The advanced stadium under development at the Growth Point is nearly finished. The location for the Children's Party has seen extensive refurbishment and now includes new classroom blocks as well as additional structures, ensuring the event can be smoothly organized and enjoyed without any issues.

The facilities hosting the Gala are seeing significant enhancements as well. Additionally, communities are gaining advantages from both the Presidential Borehole Initiative and Village Enterprise Programs.

The business sector hasn’t been overlooked either; they are actively refurbishing their premises in anticipation of the significant event.

"All routes heading towards Gokwe Nembudziya are currently under maintenance, guaranteeing comfortable travel for all visitors. As our President mentioned, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaninilo,’ these various infrastructure projects have provided jobs for over 600 young people within the constituency and across the entire district. We are fully prepared to welcome our guests, with expectations of significant turnout from Gokwe Nembudziya," she stated.

Last week, a high-level inter-ministerial team headed by Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi toured the site where the Independence celebrations were being held in Gokwe North. They showed contentment with the progress underway. Meanwhile, at the Mutora Business Centre, various developmental activities surged, making it bustling across multiple fronts.

The Vice President, Mohadi, mentioned that the construction activities at Mutora Business Centre along with the ongoing road work are progressing as planned and will be completed by April 18th in time for the Uhuru festivities.

He conveyed his joy at seeing firsthand the progress happening in Gokwe.

I've witnessed significant advancements, and I'm confident that when we celebrate, we must maintain this pace since without roads, there can be no progress.

Issues with our roadways must be addressed. Growth isn’t solely tied to urban centers—it’s also crucial for rural regions which provide us significant support during elections. My appreciation goes out to everyone working locally—I’m proud of your efforts,” he noted. “We’re discovering something fresh each day, and my intuition suggests this will turn into an even better project than anticipated. It has truly left us quite impressed.

Minister Ncube additionally stated that the majority of the work being done on-site, such as improving secondary roads and restoring the football field, was about 70% finished. Contractors have been operating around the clock to expedite progress.

"We have reached 70 percent completion of the project. The required payments to the contractors have begun. To ensure timely completion, we've implemented a round-the-clock work schedule for them. Therefore, we anticipate finishing everything before the celebration date," he stated.

Hosting the national festivities in Gokwe is consistent with the Second Republic's strategy of moving major national events around different provincial areas throughout the nation.

This differs from earlier times when Harare hosted all the national events.

The Second Republic adopted a policy of devolution and mandated that major national events like independence festivities should rotate among different provinces as part of the government’s aim to ensure that nobody and nowhere gets left out.
