The individuals dismissed from their roles consist of a visiting faculty member, Khushboo Pagare, who was tasked with assessing exam papers; a laboratory worker (peon), Pannalal Patharia, who inspected the documents; and Rakesh Kumar Meher, who assisted as a book carrier.
The details indicate that the event took place in January of this year. Subsequently, a video spread rapidly across social media platforms, leading to recent actions including suspensions and terminations. On April 4th, the college principal, Rakesh Kumar Verma, along with Ram Gulam Patel, who served as the nodal officer for exam paper evaluations, were both placed under suspension. Further developments came on April 8th when an additional trio faced dismissal from their positions over the same issue.
The Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department for the Madhya Pradesh government, Anupam Rajan, informed ANI, stating, "The evaluation of exam answer sheets was underway at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College in Pipariya , Narmadapuram district and a video came to light of a class fourth employee, a lab technician, was evaluating the papers. After that, a committee of senior officers was constituted to investigate the matter. Following this, the principal of the college has been suspended for negligence, and Ram Gulam Patel, the nodal officer for the evaluation work, has also been suspended."
He went on to say that three individuals lost their positions: the guest faculty member initially tasked with assessing the papers, the laboratory technician, and an individual who assisted as a book handler in this situation.
In addition, Khushboo Pagare, the visiting instructor tasked with assessing the papers, stated that she wasn’t feeling well and therefore could not participate in the evaluation process, leading to her dismissal from service. Similarly, Pannalal Patharia, the lab technician, along with Rakesh Mehar, who works as a book handler and assisted in this situation, were both let go from their positions. As a result, two individuals faced suspension, while three others—including Ms. Pagare—were removed from their roles within the organization,” explained the official.
When questioned regarding the reassessment of the reviewed papers, ACS Rajan stated that there wouldn’t be any detriment to the students, with previously evaluated scripts being reconsidered by qualified individuals. Additionally, he mentioned that such oversight mustn’t happen again; otherwise, severe measures will be enforced.
"Students won’t suffer from this situation as all previously reviewed papers will now be reassessed by qualified individuals tasked with evaluating them. Additionally, stringent measures have already been implemented regarding this issue; suspension and dismissal notices have been posted on the official department webpage. Such carelessness mustn’t occur again, and if discovered elsewhere, severe actions will undoubtedly follow," Rajan stated further.
Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar indicated that the issue was treated with seriousness and that measures were enforced against those determined to be at fault.
