Washington [US], March 15 (ANI): Apple TV+ has formally announced the renewal of its award-winning sitcom 'Ted Lasso' for a fourth season. Actor Jason Sudeikis will once again take on the lead role as Ted Lasso.

This announcement follows over a year of speculations regarding the show’s continuation, with Sudeikis’ decision to come back playing a crucial role in securing its renewal.

The creators announced the information through their verified social media accounts.

" Ted Lasso has been an absolute phenomenon, fostering a devoted global following and bringing boundless happiness and humor, along with messages of kindness, empathy, and unshakeable optimism," stated Matt Cherniss, the head of programming at Apple TV+, in a release.

"We're all excited at Apple to keep working alongside Jason and the exceptional team of creatives who bring this series to life," as stated by him in The Hollywood Reporter.

Previously, the show’s creators mentioned that their choice for a fourth season hinges on Sudeikis’ readiness to move forward with it.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, during a recent discussion, Sudeikis disclosed that in season four, Ted will mentor a female squad, a development that was foreshadowed in the cliffhanger of season three’s final episode.

The production of season four is anticipated to start during the summertime, as screenwriters have already commenced their work on the upcoming season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast of the show, featuring Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, is anticipated to come back, even though Apple TV+ hasn't formally announced renewals past Ted Lasso himself, played by Jason Sudeikis.

'Ted Lasso' has achieved both critical acclaim and commercial popularity for Apple TV+. Notably, season three became the platform’s most watched series yet.

The show has also received many accolades, including multiple Emmy wins.
